Bismillah al rahman al rahim "In the name of God, most Gracious, most Compassionate".
Peace be upon you,
To all readers, today my blog topic is Green Technology. In my opinion greentech is divide in many branches, but I only will touch these sub topics for the time being, transportation, renewable energy and environmental engineering.
Transportation
Sustainable transport (or green transport) is a concept, an ideology and, in some
countries, a governmental policy that consists of strengthening or replacing the
current transport systems of an urban/suburban area with more fuel-efficient, space-
saving and healthy lifestyle-promoting alternatives. The term refers to any means of
transport with low impact on the environment, and includes human or animal muscle-
powered vehicles, low-carbon fueled vehicles, any kind of vehicle using a renewable
source of energy for its propulsion. The most common usage of green transport is
walking. A common form of green transport vehicles are hybrid vehicles. Hybrid cars
use an internal combustion engine combined with an electric engine. Biofuel
powered vehicles use fuels derived from plant sources, such as vegetable oil,
biodiesel, or bioalcohol for their propultion.
Example of green vehicles:
1)

The Toyota Prius (pronounced /ˈpriːəs/) is a full hybrid electric mid-size car
developed and manufactured by the Toyota Motor Corporation. It first went on sale in
Japan in 1997, making it the first mass-produced hybrid vehicle. It was subsequently
introduced worldwide in 2001. The Prius is sold in more than 40 countries and
regions, with its largest markets being those of Japan and North America.
How do hybrid cars work?

A hybrid vehicle is a vehicle that uses two or more distinct power sources to move
the vehicle.[1] The term most commonly refers to hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs),
which combine an internal combustion engine and one or more electric motors.
2)
The Tesla Roadster is an all-electric sports car produced by the electric car firm
Tesla Motors. The Roadster is the only highway-capable electric vehicle for sale
today; all other highway-capable EVs are prototypes or evaluation series from
automakers that are trying to determine whether to go forward with an electric
vehicle program.[2]
The Roadster is the first production automobile to use lithium-ion battery cells and
the first production EV to travel more than 200 miles (320 km) per charge.[3] The
world distance record of 501 km (311 mi) for a production electric car on a single
charge was set by a Roadster on October 27th, 2009 during the Global Green Challenge
in outback Australia.[4]
According to an independent analysis from the United States Environmental Protection
Agency, the Roadster can travel 244 miles (393 km) on a single charge of its lithium-
ion battery pack, and can accelerate from 0–60 mph (0–97 km/h) in 3.7 seconds. The
Roadster's efficiency, as of September 2008, was reported as 120 mpgge (2.0 L/100
km). It uses 135 W·h/km (21.7 kW·h/100mi or 490 kJ/km) battery-to-wheel, and has an
efficiency of 92% on average.[5][6]
Tesla has shipped more than 900 Roadsters to customers in the United States and
Europe, and it is taking orders from Canada, with Canadian deliveries expected to
begin soon.[7] The base price is US$109,000.

Maglev, or magnetic levitation, is a system of transportation that suspends, guides
and propels vehicles, predominantly trains, using magnetic levitation from a very
large number of magnets for lift and propulsion. This method has the potential to be
faster, quieter and smoother than wheeled mass transit systems. The power needed for
levitation is usually not a particularly large percentage of the overall consumption;
most of the power used is needed to overcome air drag, as with any other high speed
train.
How do a maglev train works?

That is all from my blog now. There is more to come! Please leave your comment because that I am still new to this blogging stuff.
Peace be upon you.
